SHER BAHADUR SUPPORTERS IN NC REGISTERING NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION IN PARLIAMENT AGAINST RAM CHANDRA PAUDEL
Kathmandu, 15 Aug. Supporters of senior leader and three-time Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said they are registering a no-confidence motion against parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel at the office in parliament Monday.
Paudel is also nominated vice-president of the main opposition.
Deuba supporters they have collected signatures of 59 NC of 114 NC lawmakers in the legislature.
Deuba supporters took the extreme decision after President Sushil Koirala didn’t replace Paudel
Deuba says he was given an assurance of his nomination following secret agreement with the elected party president to nominate supporters in the central committee to strengthen Koirala’s hold on the party to administer it effectively.
Koiirala and Deuba supporters were elected almost in equal number by the party general convention last year.
Deuba supporters announced their move following Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal’s resignation Sunday.
NC parliamentary party leader is the prime minister in waiting, according to the party statute.

ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES AGAINST UML YOUTH LEADERS IN MORANG
Kathmandu, 15 Aug.: Attempted murder charges were registered by Morang district police against 17 persons, including UML youth leader Parshuram Basnet, Sunday at Morang district court.
They were charged for attempted murder of Abishek Giri while being produced in court two months ago.
Recording their statements will start Monday morning.
Basnet has gone in hiding amid charges he’s being protected by some powerful people in UML leading the majority communist majority government.

STANDARD CHARTERED BANK NEPAL LTD.EARNS Rs. 1119.171 MILLION NET PROFIT
Kathmandu, l5 Aug.: Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd, earned a Rs. 1119.171 million net profit in fiscal year 2067/68 ending 17 July compared to a Rs.1085.872 million in the previous fiscal year, the bank said Monday.
Nabil Bank registered Rs.1300.116 million net profit in the previous fiscal year compared to a Rs.1139.099 million net profit the same fiscal year compared to the previous year
The private sector commercial banks registered increased profits despite a tottering national economy with political uncertainty because of intense struggles in major ruling parties.
Prime Bank Ltd.announced a Rs.370.915 million in fiscal year 2067/68 compared to a Rs.324.985 million profit the previous fiscal year.

UDMF, INDIGENOUS PARTIES IN ALLIANCE
Kathmandu, 15 Aug.: In a bid to collaborate for common issues, five Madhes-based political parties associated with United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and eight indigenous political parties and organizations affiliated with United Alliance for National Self-rule and Federalism (UANSF) have agreed to form an alliance--Samyukta Aadibasi Janajati-Madhesi Morcha Nepal (SAJMM-N), Gani Ansari writes in Republica.
A meeting of a four-member joint taskforce of UDMF and UANSF held on Sunday in Kathmandu forged consensus on objectives, code of conducts and principles of the newly formed alliance.
The taskforce is set to present a draft proposal outlining objectives, code of conducts and principles of the newly formed alliance at a meeting of the alliance in a couple of days for endorsement.
The taskforce has agreed to work together for identity and rights of indigenous nationalities and Madhesis. “Both indigenous nationalities and Madhesi are downtrodden, so we have agreed to collaborate for our identity and rights,” said a member of the taskforce in condition of anonymity, adding, “So far we were struggling separately for our rights but we will struggle together from now on.”
The leaders have agreed to work together for the right to autonomy, federalism, secularism, and ethnic and regional autonomy.
The meeting has decided to form two separate committees to run SAJMM-N. The taskforce has proposed to form 13-member presidential council comprising chairmen from both sides and a 26-member working committee. Each party will lead the alliance for a month on rotational basis, according to the proposal.
The 13-member council will hold meeting every month whereas 26-member working committee will hold meeting every one and half month. The council will have the right to take major decisions on behalf of the alliance.
The taskforce has agreed to take decisions on common issues on the basis of consensus. “We will not make decisions on the basis of majority as we have aligned to work together for our rights,” the leader told Republica.
Similarliy, they have agreed to dissolve the alliance after completing its objectives.
UDMF comprises MPRF-R, MPRF-D, Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), TMDP-Nepal and Sadbhawana Party whereas UANSF comprises Nepa Rashtriya Party, Federal Democratic National Forum, Rashtriya Janamukti Party, Tamsaling Nepal Rashtriya Dala, Janamukti Party Nepal, Aadibasi Jatiya Chhetriya Mahasangh Nepal Akhil Nepal Aadibasi Janajati Mahasangh (Ekikrita), and Aadibasi Janajati Mahasangh (Samajbadi).
