SSP RAMESH KUMAR PANDEY CLEARED OF CIAA CHARGE BY SPECIAL COURT
Kathmandu, 15 Aug.: Suspended SSP Ramesh Kumar Pandey was cleared by a special court on Monday of charge leveled by CIAA for alleged involvement in a Rs.280 million Sudan scam purchase of armoured personnel carriers (APCs) for Nepal Police with UN peacekeepers with UN in the north African state.
He was set free without bail and asked to present himself at court when asked.
Only AIG Deepak Singh Thangden and Director of London-based Assured Risks P Ltd Michael Rider—are now topreseent themselves at the court.
Thirty-four police officers, including three IGPs and two contractors—including one foreigner-- were charged.
Rider hasn’t presented himself at the court though he responded through letter.

TREE CRUSHES TO DEATH MOTHER AND CHILD IN KAILALI
Kathmandu, 15 Aug.: Two persons were crushed to death when a tree flatted their home Monday at Malakheti VDC-3,in Kailali.
Another person was seriously injured when a tree collapsed during a storm.
Rukma Devi Rana,and her two-year-old child were killed.

TWO PARTIES MERGE
Kathmandu, 15 Aug.: Rastriya Mukti Andolan Nepal and Rastriya Samyukta Manch Nepal have unified Monday, RSS reports.

At a press conference organized in the Capital, central coordinator of the Mukti Andolan, Dr JB Shah expressed confidence that the unification of the parties would help establish People’s Republic in the country.
Similarly, central member of the unified party, Bishnu Poudel accused the UCPN-Maoist, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress of making country a hostage of indecision.

Both parties believe in the communist ideology.
