SUSHIL KOIRALA CONFUSED OF SITUATION AFTER 31 AUG.

Kathmandu, 8 Aug.: Even NC President Sushil Koirala is confused on the utility of the constituent assembly (CA) or its fate after 31 August—the extended deadline to promulgate a constitution to institutionalize a declared republic.
The deadline was extended for three months after a failed attempt to promulgate a basic law within 28 May.
A constitution wasn’t been promulgated in two and half years.
Koirala himself asked why the assembly’s term should be extended in an interview with The Kathmandu Post Monday.
“There are questions being asked about CA. Why should it be” extended”
“Almost 23 million has been spent on it. That money could’ve been gone for development,” the chief of the main. opposition said.
The response was in reply to a question: would there is difficulties if there’s no government in the period when the constituent assembly term expires?
Koirala isn’t sure of the CA fate after 31 August even while wanting it.
“No. But there are questions. It’s a democratic institution. Therefore, it’s ours too,” Koirala said in reply to another question whether the CA tenure will be extended after 31 August.
Sushil Koirala didn’t directly suggest possibility of presidential rule but admitted it won’t be a good situation when reminded of its possibility
But be admitted ‘things weren’t moving even with CA”.
“There’s a worry that things are not moving even with a CA. I can’t say what would happen if there is no CA.
I can’t say what kind of rule there’ll be. But it wouldn’t be a good situation—not at all.”
