MAOISTS HANDOVER KEYS OF CONTAINERS WITH THEIR WEAPONS AMID CONTROVERSY

KEYS HANDED OVER UPDATE
Kathmandu, 1 Sept.: Maoists Thursday handed over keys and containers with their weapons verified earlier by UN, Maoist leader and politburo Barsha Man Pun said
“Now integration process has started,” Pun said over Radio Nepal.
But keys at a division in Rolpa weren’t handed to a special committee headed by the prime minister.
Maoists launched the people’s war from Rolpa.
A decision was earlier made to hand over keys at seven cantonments.
.
But First Vice-chairman Mohan Bidya opposed the handover.
“It’s an effort to disarm PLA,” a statement said.

PRESSURE COOKER BOMB PLANTED BY REBEL GROUP
Kathmandu, 1 Sept.: A pressure cooker bomb was planted Thursday at the gate of Bijaya Kedia’s home in Krishnanagar in Rependhaehi by two motorcyclists.

EC PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES PM BHATTARAI
Kathmandu, 1 Sept.: President of the European Commission (EC) Jose Mannuel Durao Barroso congratulated Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on his election
“I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to your Excellency on your election as the new prime minister of Nepal,” Barroso said in a statement on Thursday.
The president hoped the Bhattarai government will contribute to conclusion of the processes of peace and statute drafting.
“The European Union attaches the greatest importance to these processes and reaffirms its full support to the ongoing efforts towards lasting peace and stability in your country,” the statement added.
EU member states played a prominent in toppling monarchy, Hindu state and installation of Maoists in Nepal.
