NEPAL, INDIA SECURITY TALKS CONCLUDE
Kathmandu, 24 Sept.: Nepali and Indian security officials this week agreed not to permit activities inimical to each other
The two South Asian countries share an open 1,7000 km border mostly along the terai flat along the north Indian states of Utter Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal and agreed to exchange information to monitor crimes.
Officials held two-day security talks at joint secretary level ahead of a meeting of home secretaries and before Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s India visit after Dasain following his election as prime minister by parliament.
Officials deputed along the border participated in the talks.
India agreed to train Nepalese security personnel for which
Nepal will submit its needs and requirements to New Delhi.
Nepal presented India a list of 367 wanted people for criminal activities harbouring across the border.
India complains counterfeit Indian currency notes is being smuggled to adversely impact the Indian economy amid charges of cross-border terrorist activities.
