PARLIAMENT TO APPROVE BUDGET SUNDAY
PARLIAMENT TO APPROVE BUDGET SUNDAY
Kathmandu, 18 Sept.: The annual budget for the fiscal year 2011/12 is being approved by parliament later Sunday.
The Baburam Bhattarai government adopted the budget presented by the previous government of Jhalanath Khanal who led a government with Maoists.
But Maoists wanted to amend the document after being thrust to power to lead the government with Madeshbadi parties.
The new government sought amendment to incorporate priorities of the new administration.
Speaker Subash Nemwnag advised against the amendment arguing approval of the budget would be delayed creating procedural problems.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai will address points raised by lawmakers in parliament before flying for New York to address the annual UN general assembly session.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kazi Shrestha is accompanying Bhatarai.
