PM BHATTARAI MEETS BOLIVIAN PRESIDENT TO LAUNCH BILATERAL MEETINGS IN NEW YORK
PM BHATTARAI BEGINS UN VISITWITH BILATERAL MEETINGS
Kathmandu, 21 Sept.: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai held bilateral discussions with world leaders Tuesday and participated in conferences soon after arrival in New York to attend the annual UN general assembly session, reports from UN headquarters said.
Bhattarai is on his on a maiden foreign tour after assuming office three weeks ago.
The premier held bilateral talks with Evo Morales Ayma‚ President of Bolivia and Eric Solheim‚ leader of the Norwegian delegation and Minister for Environment and International Development of Norway.
Solheim is a frequent visitor to Nepal.
Bhattarai also held discussions with Bruno Rodriguez‚ leader of the Cuban delegation and Minister for Foreign Minister of Cuba‚ and Navanethem Pillay‚ High Commissioner‚ Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
“They discussed about the matters of bilateral interest including cooperation in the multilateral forums,” the Nepali mission in New York said.
Prime Minister addressed the Roundtable 5 of the United Nations Private Sector Forum 2011 on the theme ‘Sustainable Energy for All: Water, Food and Energy Security.”
In his address, PM Bhattarai said Nepal is committed to addressing the problems related to water, food and energy security in an integrated manner.

Bhattarai also addressed the High-level meeting on nutrition where he expressed Nepal’s commitment to improving the nutritional status of children and women as a foundation for future social economic growth and development.
PM also addressed the high-level meeting ‘Every Women and Every Child’ hosted by the UN Secretary-General, which was attended by donors, government leaders who made progress on women and children’s health, private sector, and civil society organizations.
