PM BHATTARAI TO CHAIR SPECIAL COMMITTEE MEET BEFORE FLYING FOR USA

SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON INTEGRATION TO MEET
BEFORE PM FLIES FOR NEW YORK

Kathmandu, 18 Sept.: The special committee on integration, resettlement and supervision of 19,000 plus Maoist former combatants will be held Sunday afternoon before Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai flies for New York.
The premier is ex-officio chief of the committee where main political parties are represented.
Before Bhattarai assumed office two weeks ago, UCPN (Maoist) agreed in principle to complete integration of its fighters in 45 days to complete a delayed peace process.
But the commitment has hit foul weather as differences have cropped in the party heading the government to handover of keys of containers with Maoist weapons to the insurgency period to the government committee.
A faction led by first Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya opposes the handover before the completion of the peace process.
PM Bhattarai will also chair a meeting of the cabinet before proceeding for USA.
