Kathmandu, 21 Sept.: Senior Maoist leader Deb Gurung Wednesday revealed why and how differenced broke in UCPN (Maoist) on handover of keys of containers with insurgency-era rebel arms to a special committee headed ex-officio by the prime minister.
“At first, disagreement with the four-point was indicated. It was not brought to light in the public. Specific explanation was expected from the leadership on the agreement.
“The party decided on a people’s federal republic in the constitution. Instead, loktantrik republic was written [in the four-point agreement with a front of Madeshbadi parties],” Gurung sad in Janaastha.
He said a decision was taken to return seized assets by using the administration.
“We also have objections to the recruitment of 10,000
Madeshis in Nepal Army in a separate unit. How did the question arise of creating a unit with only Madeshis arise in the name of inclusiveness?
“There’s a controversy on the one hand on modality [for integration and resettlement] for PLA and other related issues. There’s been an agreement on mass recruitment of Madeshis—that also 10,000.
‘Couldn’t it be an attempt to recruit criminal elements from across the border in the garb of Madeshis,” Gurung added. More
