ARMED POLICE DEPLOYED TO PREVENT FORMER KING FROM RECEIVING PRASAD FROM LIVING GOODDESS

Kathmandu, 16 Sept. Riot police armed with guns, helmets, shields and sticks were deployed heavily at Basantapur Square and New Road to stop former King Gyanendra from receiving blessings of Living Goddess Kumari at her official residence Friday night.
The eight-day festival ends Friday night as the chariot of the Goddess was pulled through a section of the city.and the lingo or pole erected at Hanuman Dhoka Place was brought down.
The pole was erected to herald the beginning of the festival.
Several police on duty confirmed they had been instructed to prevent the former king from visiting the Kumari Ghar or official residence of the Living Goddess in clear violation of a fundamental right of a person to offer worship and move freely in a democratic society
The Maoist led government temporarily imprisoned Shah on the first day of the festival at his Nirmal Niwas residence to prevent his from visiting Basantapur Square.
President DR. Ram Baram Yadav was scheduled to visit Kumari Ghar in the evening but hadn’t arrived until 7.45 at night.

NEPAL PLAYS A DRAW WITH SAUDI ARABIA UPDATE
