BODIES OF CRASH SIX VICTIMS BEING HANDED OVER TO DEAR ONES THURSDAY

Kathmandu, 20 Oct.: Bodies of six crash victims of an Islander transport aircraft of Nepal Airlines (NA) that caught fire and crashed Tuesday night over Baglung are being handed over to dear ones Thursday after autopsy at TU Teaching Hospital , NA said.
The aircraft transporting a sick soldier to the capital from Nepalgunj for emergency treatment in the capital caught fire and crashed.
Ten foreigners, mostly Indian tourists, and six Nepalis died in a crash of a Buddha Air US-built Beechcraft 26 September as it was preparing to land at TIA of the
capital.

SUSHIL KORIALA, SHER BAHADUR DEUBA MEET

Bahadur Deuba, a three-time former prime minister, NC President Sushil met the disgruntled leader at the latter’s residence briefly
Wednesday.
Published reports said the two leaders are not eve on talking terns after the
party dissolved executive committees of four committees whose terms had expired.
Deuba resigned from the party central committee in anger and charged Koirala for dissolution of bodies illegally
Koirala asked Deuba to withdraw his resignation which
hasn’t been accepted by the party.

TOP LEADERS CANCEL PLANNED CAMBODIA TRIP

Kathmandu, 20 Oct. Top leaders of the three main parties
cancelled a planned Cambodia trip at the urging of President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Speaker Subash Nemwang.
Nemwang urged the leaders to go abroad when the twin tasks of concluding and constitution drafting have hit a roadblock
The responsibilities have to be completed by 31 November.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda, UML Chairman Jhalanataah Khanal, NC President SUshil KOKirala and other party colleagues were scheduled to visit Cambodia 23 to 27 November for a meet on Nepal peace and Reconciliation sponsored by International Conference of Asian Political parties.

NEPAL LOSES TOP POSITION TO BANGLADESH IN FIFA RANKING
Kathmandu, 20 Oct. Nepal lost its ranking as South Asia’s top soccer nation to Bangladesh after its position fell to 144 to in fresh FIFA ranking.
Nepal’s position slipped by nine after poor showings friendly matches in Southeast Asia this month.
Nepal received 176 points while Bangladesh collected 183 points in rankings of the world’s soccer governing body.
Spain is the top soccer nation of the world.

Kathmandu, 20 Oct.: Washing dishes at a restaurant in Thamel, 15-year-old Devi Gurung of Tilche Village in lower Manang had two dreams: to own his own restaurant and help improve health status of poor children, Thee Himalayan Times reports.

But for an orphan who had been roaming the streets of Kathmandu in search of food, his dream was all he had to call his own. But for now Gurung, who came to the City in search of education after his parents passed away, was happy that he had got hold of a job at a restaurant and there was no sleeping in the open.

“That was three decades ago,” said Devi, who is now Dr Devi Gurung States. “I used to shiver in the streets during winter. I did not have warm clothes to wear and good food to eat,” recalled Gurung, the founder president of Himalaya Family Healthcare Project, with tears welling up his eyes as he donated jackets and other clothes to around 15 street children in Jhochen, Kathmandu today [ Wednesday].

“Before I got a job in a restaurant, I had nowhere to go, nothing to eat. I lived in the streets of Kathmandu for months until I got a job at KC’s Restaurant in Thamel as a dishwasher,” said Gurung as members of his project donated warm clothes, towels, toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kits to street children.

Dr James H States, who climbed Mt Everest in 1983, was a regular at KC’s Restaurant then. James proposed that Gurung go to US with him as he was also living alone.

Then there was no looking back for Gurung. The teenager, who was committed to fulfilling his dreams, reached the land of the opportunity, where he seized every opportunity he got. He completed his PhD in the US and is now a US citizen and owns his own restaurant.

Once, Gurung asked his father Dr States how he could pay him back for providing him a life-changing opportunity to prosper in the United States, States had told him ‘go help the poor’. Then Gurung got degree in Social Work just to learn ways to help people in need.

Gurung, who arrived in Kathmandu on October 3, with a team of doctors and engineers from the US for the feasibility study of a healthcare centre in Manang. “Now I am on my way to fulfilling both of my dreams,” said Gurung, a proud owner of Everest Cafe and Bar in the US. “I will soon establish a hospital in Manang for help poor people,” he said.
