BRITISH TRADE MISSION COMING

UK TRADE MISSION TO VISIT NEPAL NEXT WEEK
Kathmandu, 9 Oct.: A high-level trade delegation from UK will visit Nepal next week in a bid to promote bilateral trade and investment. Nepali embassy in London said the British delegation will visit Nepal from 13 to 18 October, Republica reports.

“There are many areas of opportunity for profitable UK investment and trade including tourism, hydropower and infrastructure. The middle class market is expanding, particularly in the Kathmandu valley, with a growing demand for business skills in the English language,” said Ms. Sabe Tibbitts, International Trade Adviser of the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), who is leading the delegation.

Minister of State for Trade and Investment Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint expressed the hope that commercial partnership between the two countries will develop further and UK companies will look at Nepal as a place for doing business.

Addressing the pre-mission reception at the Nepali embassy in London, Ambassador of Nepal to UK Dr Suresh Chandra Chalise expressed his commitment to facilitate foreign investment in Nepal. He reminded the delegation that Nepal is an attractive investment destination not just due to its policy measures but also because of her strategic location between two soaring economies of China and India.

UK has pledged to nearly double its bilateral trade to 131million pounds over 2011-15.

The UK mission has been jointly organised by the Britain-Nepal Chamber of Commerce (BNCC), Embassy of Nepal, London, and Gateway Asia.

The companies participating in the delegation are Hydroplan, BMI Publishing, University of London SOAS, London Training Services, Palaces & Tigers, Top Tea, London South College, The British College, Lysis Financial Ltd, Net Airways Ltd, Aram Designs Ltd, Saloria Architects, Chantry Vellacot and UKTI.
