FURTHR DETAILS OF MAOIST MEET

BINAYA SHARMA DEAD

Kathmandu, 30 Oct.; Binaya Sharma [B. Sharma] died 15 September, Royal Nepal Golf Club of which he was captain and member announced Sunday.
He was former marketing director of Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation (RNAC) and had a long association with the travel trade industry.
Binaya was 69.
He staged a long battle against cancer.

MINISTER BHATTA REVOLVING FUND FOR HELPLESS CHILDREN OF MARTYRS

Kathmandu, 30 Oct.: Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Lekhraj Bhatta has set up a revolving fund on his own investment with the view to providing assistance for the higher education of helpless children belonging to the families of martyrs, disappeared and conflict survivors, RSS reports from Kanchanpur..

Minister Bhatta announced the establishment of the Fund of Rs. 1 million amid a condolence meet held at Attariya of Kailali on the 15th day of the demise of his mother Durga Devi Bhatta.
The fund will be used to provide scholarship to the children belonging to the families of martyrs, disappeared, conflict victims and helpless families, who are deprived of education due to financial reasons, Minister Bhatta informed.

Meanwhile, a missing woman of Chandani VDC, Kanchanpur has been found dead nearby the Mahakali River.

Laxmi Khadka, who went missing since the past one week, was found dead on the bank of the River nearby Dodhara on Saturday evening, police informed.

WORLD NEWA CONFERENCE IN LONDON.
Kathmandu, 30 Oct.: Nepal Bhasa Academy Chancellor Satya Mohan Joshi has said it is the responsibility of all the Nepalese to safeguard their mother tongues, RSS reports.

Inaugurating the three-day World Newa Conference that kicked off in London of United Kingdom on Saturday, he said a community lives only if its language lives.

Chancellor Joshi said if we couldn’t save our language, our generations will deride us, therefore, we should make efforts to protect it from our respective behalf.

Joshi also said the Newars should have political awareness for attaining a Newa autonomous state.

The conference with the slogan ‘Let’s go to London and make our voice heard’ was organised by the World Newa Organisation and the Pasa Pucha Guthi, UK.

Participating in the conference were Newas from 12 countries including Nepal, Japan, USA, Belgium, Germany and Spain, Vice Chairman of the World Newa Sangh Subarna Bajracharya informed.

Nepal’s participant Ganesh Ram Lachhi honored Pucha Guthi Chairman Sachetan Tuladhar, Sanyukta Shrestha, Suresh Shrestha, Suresh Baidya, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Birendra Shrestha, Dr. Bal Gopal Shrestha, Amrita Shrestha, Bijaya Bajracharya and Daya Ratna Shakya.

Prof. Maniklal Shrestha, former minister Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Prof. Prem Shanti Tuladhar have been participating in the conference.

Nepal Bhasa Academy Chancellor Joshi handed over a dictionary of Nepal Bhasa published by the Academy to World Newa Organisation Ad-Hoc Committee Convenor Dayaratna Shakya.

FOLLOWING HUMILATION TEACHER COMMITS SUICIDE

Kathmandu, 30 Oct.: A teacher has committed suicide at Tolijaisi Agra, a rural village of Dailekh district, on Saturday night, RSS reports from Dailekh.

The deceased has been identified as Dhir Bahadur Shahi, 41, of Tolijaisi VDC-5.

According to police, Shahi committed suicide by jumping into Andheri rivulet.

Investigation into the case is underway, said police.

Shahi was a secondary school teacher of English from relief quota at Malika Secondary School, Thimure. He was involved in teaching for the past 17 years.

Police have recovered a letter in which Shahi mentioned that he committed suicide after he felt humiliated by a person, uncle in relation, who slapped Shahi over a minor dispute at local Bhayini festival. He has also written not to blame anyone for his suicide.
