MAOIST MINISTER RAYAMAJHI DISMISSES CRITICISM OF AGREEMENT WITH INDIA

MAOIST MINISTER RAYAMAJHI DISMISSES PROTEST AGAINST AGREEMENT WITH INDIA

Kathmandu, 26 Oct.: Local Development Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has said that the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) signed by the Nepal Government with India was a supportive tool for the development of the country's economy, RSS reports.

Speaking at a Deusi Bhailo programme organised by the Social Development Society, Anamnagar on the occasion of the Tihar Festival on Wednesday, Minister Rayamahi said, "The protest of the BIPPA is just for the protest sake".

Protest of the Agreement within the UCPN -Maoist reflects the hangover of war while in other parties reflects the status quo", he commented.

Development of nation was not possible if political instability in the country persisted for long, he argued.

On the occasion, Minister Rayamajhi released a souvenir titled 'Anamnagar Rajat Mahotsav' published by the Society.

Also speaking at the ceremony, lawmaker Sabitra Bhusal said though the BIPPA was the need of the country, it would be better if it was signed after the consultations with all political parties and stakeholders concerned.
