MAOIST STANDING COMMITTEE ALSO POSTPONED AFTER BAIDYA BOYCOTT

UNOFFICIAL MEET OF MAOIST STANDING COMMITTEE SAYS BAIDYA PROTESTS ILLEGAL UPDATE

Kathmandu, 2 Oct. A Maoist standing committee to discuss party differences and other issues was postponed Sunday.
A meeting of the central committee was also postponed Friday after First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya boycotted the meeting.
Differences have openly broken out in the UCPN (Maoist) over the signing of a four-point agreement with five Madeshbadi parties to form the government led by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, who is also second
vice-chairman of UCPN (Maoist) leading the government.
Agenda items were discussed at Sunday’s standing committee meet.
But an unofficial meeting of the standing committee gave party Prachanda responsibility to resolve differences.
The unofficial meet called protests by the Baidya faction illegal.

19,000 PLUS MAOIST FORMER FIGHTERS GET INCREASED ALLOWANCES

Kathmandu, 2 Oct.: More than 19,000 plus Maoist fighters will get increased allowance of Rs. 1,500 from Ashwn, an announcement said Sunday.
The cabinet took the decision.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Ministsr Nayaran Kazi Shrestha announced the government decision justifying the decision on grounds government employee salary was increased and former Maoist fighters living n 28 camps and cantonments hadn’t received a raise since 2065.
The fighters are financed mainly by some European states and government.
