MAOISTS URGED TO BE RESPONSIBLE

NC PRESIDENT ASKS MAOISTS TO BE RESPONSIBLE

Kathmandu, 26 Oct.: President of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sushil Koirala has said that the peace process and the constitution writing would not reach to a logical conclusion without the participation of the NC, RSS reports.

Koirala said that the UCPN-Maoist is only giving assurances for the past four years, and called on the Maoists to conclude the twin tasks to make it result-oriented by being responsible from now onwards.

Speaking at a tea reception organised today by the Nepal Democratic Engineers Association on the occasion of the Tihar and Chhath festivals, he said disputes surrounding in his party will be ended through consensus.

Koirala further said the party has been moving forward with consensus as far as possible and sometimes with majority, but that it will not be indecisive.

On the occasion, senior leader of the NC, Sher Bahadur Deuba urged the UCPN-Maoist to proceed with the peace process and constitution-writing responsibly.

Various leaders of NC including Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel and cadres were present in the programme.

PRODUCERS ASKED TO MAINTAIN MEDICINE STANDARD
Kathmandu, 26 Oct.: The Department of Drug Administration (DoDA) has directed pharmaceutical companies to come under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as declared by the World Health
Organization (WHO), RSS reports

According to Director General of the Department Radharaman Prasad Saha, the Department directed the companies as the GMP guarantees the quality of medicines.

As many as 20 medicine companies, out of 40 in the country have come under the GMP as per the direction of the Department, Saha said.

The remaining companies have also started internal works to transform as per the GMP and the Department has carried out monitoring of the companies.

Executive Director of Singha Durbar Baidhyakhana Development Committee, Dr. Santosh Kumar Thakur informed that the Committee has started internal reforms as per the direction of the Department.
