NC. UML DEVELOP COMMON STANCE FOR NEGOTIATIONS WITH MAOISTS

NC, UML COMMON STANCE OF MAOIST INTEGRATION , RETURN OF SEIZED ASSETS

Kathmandu, 30 Oct.: Two largest opposition parties, NC and UM—agreed on a common stance Sunday on integration of 5,000 former Maoist combatants is
state security agencies and return of seized assets during the Maoist insurgency.
The common stance was agreed at a meet Sunday as Maoists demand integration of 7,000 of 19,000 plus former fighters and a golden
handshake for them of Rs 700,000—opposed by main opposition NC.
The common stance came one day after Prime Minister Baburam
Bhattaraai claimed a breakthrough will come by Monday in a standoff between the party leading the government and the opposition
delaying the completion of the peace process and promulgation of a
constitution.

MOTHER, SON SWEPT AWAY IN KANKAI RIVER

Kathmandu, 30 Oct. :Dipa Dhakal and her son Dipesh were swept away by Kankai river in Jhapa Sunay morning.
The mother was crossing the river carrying her son strapped to the
her back.
