Speaking at a programme organised by NC, Bhaktapur District Committee to exchange greetings to mark the Tihar festival, he said the Maoist leadership has understood that it is not possible to conclude the peace process and write democratic constitution undermining the existence of NC and that the Maoist leaders have been flexible.
The UCPN-Maoist should forge an environment of confidence among the parties by handing over the arms to the government, returning the captured property, reinstating the displaced people, and dismantling the paramilitary structure of the Young Communist League (YCL) including others, said Koirala.
In a different note, Koirala said he will not let split of NC as a party President.
"I have started conversation with the former Prime Minister and senior leader of NC, Sher Bahadur Deuba, to settle internal disputes in the party," he said. "I´ll lead the party keeping intact party unity as NC has not forgotten the division of the party in the past", he added.
NC General Secretary Prakashman Singh, Gopalman Shrestha and others blamed the UCPN-Maoist for not being serious on peace and constitution writing processes.

PM ASSURES NEPAL SAMBAD WILL BE OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED

Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said the Nepal Sambat calendar will be implemented practically as it was a calendar of the whole of Nepali people, RSS reports.
At a programme organised by the Nepal Sambat Rastriya Nhu Dan Function Committee at Shahid Manch, Tundikhel Thursday, he said Nepal Sambat was being given a practical shape to protect Nepal’s original culture and identity.
Recalling that the government had given former minister and long time campaigner for Nepal Bhasa, Padmaratna Tuladhar, the responsibility to present a report by undertaking studies and research on the Nepal Sambat and Shankhadhar Sakhwa, the prime minister said Nepal sambat will be put into practice after the report comes out.
He said Nepal Sambat was declared national era when UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda was prime minister, and now preparations were on to implement it.
Convener of the Nhu Da Samiti Padma Ratna Tuladhar said it was a good deed of the government to include Nepal Sambat in the government calendar.
He also said Nepal had no language policy and no proper studies were made.
Various pageantries were brought out depicting the Newar community’s original culture along with band music.
Meanwhile, the New Year of Nepal Sambat 1132 was welcomed by organizing various programmes across the country.
A goodwill rally was organised on the occasion of the new year of Nepal Sambat 1132 in Hetauda. The rally organised by the Nepal Bhasha Khala, Makwanpur, was started from the Makwanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry office premises went round various parts of the Hetauda Municipality and converged into a corner meeting after reaching Rapti Road Chowk.
Meanwhile, speaking at a function organised by the Nepal Bhasha Khala in the district, former Nepali Ambassador to Russia Hiranyalal Shrestha discussed the historical and cultural aspects of Nepal Sambat and urged the government for bringing separate programmes for its recognition.
Similarly, Sindhu Newa Khala also organised a motorcycle rally in Sindhupalchowk district headquarters Chautara Bazaar. The participants of the rally went through Melchaur Irkhu, Waiba Chhap, Sanusirubari and ended after it reached the local Shahid Manch.
Likewise, Newar and other community people participated in a rally organised by the Jhigu Newa Samaj, Dhading, for harmony in the society on the occasion of the New Year of Nepal Sambat 1132. The rally participated in by elderly people and youths of Newari community and people from other communities started from Pulchowk Bazaar and ended after it reached the upper market area.
