620 STRANDED TOURISTS RESCUED FROM EVEREST REGION

Kathmandu, 18 Nov.: As many as 620 tourists, who were stranded at Tenjing Hillary Airport, Lukla, for the past one week due to unfavorable weather, have been rescued on Friday after partial improvement in weather conditions, RSS reports from
Solokhumbu.
.Tara, Agni, Sita and Nepal Air Airlines companies made 30 flights and rescued 450 tourists, whereas helicopters of Shree Air, Fishtail, Mountain, Simrik and Dynasty Airlines rescued 110 tourists from Lukla and 60 tourists from Surke, this afternoon.
A total of 1,200 tourists were stranded after no flights were made at Tenjing Hillary Airport, Lukla, till Thursday where more than 50 flights used to be made daily.
According to Chief of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Lukla, Utsav Kharel, some of the helicopters made flights to Kathmandu from Surke and other flights were made to Lamidanda of Khotang and Rumjatar of Okhaldhunga district.
Similarly, The Nepal Airlines Corporation made one flight at another Airport of the district, Faplu, and rescued 10 stranded tourists and other five patients, informed Station In-charge of Civil Aviation Authority, Faplu, Kedar Prasad Satya.

Meanwhile, more than 40 tourists have been headed to Okhaldhunga by boarding a tractor this morning as the weather condition deteriorated owing to bad weather for past seven days.
