CATEGORIZATION OF FORMER PLS FGHYERS STARS
Kathmandu, 19 Nov.: Categorization of 19,000 plus former Maoist PLA fighters starts at six cantonments where former fighters from 21 satellite camps have also been summoned to record their preferences for integration, resettlement or voluntary retirement Saturday.
The process was delayed three days to complete the process originally by 22 November; the process could be delayed.
Those who opt for resettlement will get a golden handshake from Rs. 500,000 to Rs,900,000 maximum.
Altogether 210 surveyors are recording their preferences amid
protests of some fighters from a group loyal to first Vice-chairman
Mohan Baidya—mostly injured and disabled during a 10-year insurgency.
Categorization team at the Seventh Division is expected to starts only Sunday.
The integration of the former fighters to be completed by 30 November along with the promulgation of a constitution to institutionalize
a declared republic.
Government has asked for another six-month extension of constituent assembly/parliament to complete the two processes.
