CHRISTIANS DEMAND BURIAL

HEALTH OF PARTICIPANTS ON HUNGER
STRIKE DETERIORATES

Kathmandu, 24 Nov.: Health condition of a participant in fast-unto-death staged by Conflict Victim Army-Police National
Struggle Committee, is deteriorating, RSS reports.

According to Coordinator of the Committee, Surya Bahadur Ghimire, among the participants, heath condition of Tayam Prasad Niraula (Okhaldhunga) is deteriorating from Wednesday evening. The hunger strike was started four days ago.


Ghimire further said Niraula is suffering from fever and seems very tired. Problem has been created as no medicine could be given without eating food.

Members of the Conflict Victim Army-Police, Raj Kumar Kamati (Siraha), Somraj Gautam (Kailali), Dinesh Kumar Singh (Sarlahi), Tayam Prasad Niroula (Okhaldhunga) and Pradeep Dahal (Kavre) have been participating in the hunger strike started by the committee.

The committee has staged the hunger strike demanding to provide compensation of Rs. 500,000 for each displaced from job and homeless families due to conflict and to provide Rs. 15,000 allowance per month to the displaced until they are reinstated in jobs after collection of record of the displaced from the jobs.

CHRISTIANS DEMAND BURIAL PLACE

Kathmandu, 24 Nov.: The National Christian Federation Nepal submitted a four-point memorandum to Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai demanding the arrangement for proper graveyard space to perform funeral rites
of Christian community people, RSS reports.

A delegation of the Federation called on the Prime Minister at his office and demanded arrangement for permanent graveyard to perform last rites of Christian community by implementing the agreement reached between the government and Christian community on May 1, 2011.

According to the previous accord, it was agreed to form an all-side high-level committee comprising the representatives from various political parties, Home Ministry, Forest Ministry, Land Reform Ministry and Culture Ministry and three members from the Christian community.

Among other demands put forward by the Christian community are scrapping of the Graveyard Management Recommendation Committee formed against the spirit of the agreement and guarantee of peace and security of all the religious communities by the state.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister has expressed commitment to implement the provisions of agreement signed between the government and Christian community in the past, said General Secretary of the Federation, CB Gahatraj.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Party leader of Rastriya Prajantantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N), Chandra Bahadur Gurung has registered the note of dissent on the government proposal of extending CA tenure time and again.

TWO HELD WITH 33KG HASH

Kathmandu, 24 Nov.: The Special Investigation Team of the Regional Police Office, Surkhet, arrested two persons with 33 kg hashish in Salyan district, RSS reports from Nepalgunj,.

According to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Parbati Thapa, police seized the hashish from Lila Bahadur Basnet, 39, of Bame of Salyan and Dhan Bahadur Shahi, 33, of Kortang of Jajarkot district.

Meanwhile, Indian Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) held Indian national Pawankanta Sharma with 3 kg of hashish from Rupaidiha, an Indian market in Nepal-India border near Banke district.
