CONSTITUTION CAN BE DELIVERED IN SIX MONTHS THROUGH
CONSENSUS

Kathmandu, 27 Nov.: Education Minister Dinanath Sharma has said that the peace and constitution could be delivered within six months if a consensus was forged among the political parties, RSS reports.

Speaking at a programme organised here in the district on Sunday by Dalit Sewa Sangh, Minister Sharma said the political parties should reach consensus to extend the tenure of the Constituent Assembly (CA) by six months and should bring the first draft of the constitution to people.

He suggested the Dalit community to put to an end the caste discrimination prevailing within them first.

Chief whip of the CPN-UML, Bhim Acharya on the occasion said the health, education and employment related problems facing by Dalit reflect the problem of the entire nation.

Chairperson of the parliamentary committee on human rights and international relations, Padma Lal Biswokarma said the new constitution should enshrine the special rights including the provisions regarding proportional representation of Dalit.

CA members Hari Sripaili, Bal Bahadur Sunar, Laxmi Pariyar and Dalit rights activist Moti Lal Nepali stressed that the educational institutions from schools to university should be made discrimination free zone.

The Dalit Sangh had submitted a memorandum with recommendations to Education Minister and chairpersons of various parliamentary committees so as to ensure improved access of Dalit and marginalised community through the proposed Education Act.
