GERMAN HUMAN RIGHTS WORKER QUITS NEPAL UNDER
MAOIST THREAT

Kathmandu, 16 Nov.: Unable to withstand continuous pressure from Maoist
workers, a foreign human rights worker returned home before the end of his tenure with German GTZ, Janaastha reports.
Dr Udo Klems [transliterated] hadn’t even completed one quarter of his term and returned after only six month’s stay in Nepal.
He was studying and preparing a report on the human rights situation in Nepal with the GTZ’ the report leaked.
His study in the short period found Maoists, not government, were responsible for more deaths during the insurgency.
Maoist pressure ensued immediately after the report leaked.
He was staying in Thaibu, Lalitpur, who has stayed back to prepare documents to take back pets.
