ADDRESS TRAFFIC PROBLEMS SAYS PARLIAMENTARY SUB-COMMITTEE
Kathmandu, 15 Nov.: Legislature-Parliament's sub-committee on labour, transportation, industry, commerce and supplies directed the concerned bodies as the Department of Transport Management, the Traffic Division, and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City to solve the traffic problem in Kathmandu Valley within a week, RSS reports.
Committee coordinator Shanta Basnet (Adhikari) directed the concerned authorities to remove parking on the blacktopped area, make the traffic monitoring transparent, and take punitive measures on those digging roads randomly.
The Constituent Assembly members participating in the meeting said the concerned bodies were just blaming each other for not doing works on solving traffic problems.
The CA members had also suggested the government to devise plans on removing old vehicles, increasing the number of traffic police, formulating and implementing rigorous rules on route permit and issuance of driving licens

MEET ON STUDIES, RESEARCHES ON SOCIAL CONDITIONS BEGINS
Kathmandu, 15 Nov.: An international conference on sociological procedure in relation to social movement began here today [Tuesday] to review the studies and researches on various aspects of Nepal’s social conditions, RSS reports.
Participating in the conference are 150 professors of sociology and anthropology from 25 countries including India, Canada, USA, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark besides Nepal.
The three-day conference organised jointly by the Nepal and Center for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS) and the Social Inclusion Research Fund (SIRF).
Working papers will be presented on the achievement of 1990 and 2006 movement, its influence in the social movement of South Asia, nationalities and marginalised.
The conference will also make suggestions in the context that federalism is being discussed in Nepal. It will also help the Social Science Study Council mulled by the government.
A task force was formed during the term of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal for the constitution of the council and it has been making internal works.
TU Grant Commission Chairman Prof. Dr. Ganesh Man Gurung while inaugurating the conference said the constitution of the council should not be delayed.
Centre’s Executive Director Prof. Dr. Yagya Adhikari said the Centre has so far completed 300 international studies and that Nepal’s achievement can be exemplary for the world.
Conference Coordinator Prof. Dr. Mrigendra Bahadur Pandey said studies of international sociologists and anthropologists will be presented in the conference, whereas Fund Advisor Dr. Manju Thapa said the conference will add new dimension.

IMF MISSION CHIEF MEETS SPEAKER NEMWANG
Kathmandu, 15 Nov.: A delegation led by International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission chief, Joseph Myers paid a courtesy call on Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subash Nembang at his office on Tuesday, RSS reports.
Discussion was held on Money Laundering Control Act 2068 (First Amendment), the recently announced strategy and work plan of the government on money laundering and control of financial investment on terror activities, and the bills tabled in the parliament to this regard.
Mission Chief Myers said with such initiatives in Nepal, it was making a clean image.
Also attending the meeting were secretary general of the Legislature-Parliament, Manohar Prasad Bhattarai, and Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Baskota.
