NC PRESIDENT CRITICIZES CABINET EXPANSION

NC PRESIDENT CRITICIZES TUSDAY’S GOVT. EXPANSION

Kathmandu, 9 Nov.: NC President Sushil Koirala Wednesday
criticized Tuesday’s expansion of the government by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai by inducting seven a cabinet and 19 state ministers—mostly Maoists from the Chairman Prachanda and the premier’s
camps.
Chairperson of NSP (Giri) Sarita Giri was the only non-Maoist brought into government as cabinet minister.
The jumbo cabinet now consists of 46 ministers and ministers
of state—the second largest in recent times.: Sher Bahadur Deuba has the dubious distinction of heading the largest government to collect parliament support.
Deuba is also the prime minister to start the Pajero culture to buy support by
awarding customs benefits to party leaders in parliament by giving prmits to import luxury vehicles with minimum customs duty.
The facility was misused by leaders and hardly ever criticized.
Koirala told reporters at his residence the expansion was irrelevant at a time and unnatural efforts were ongoing to form a national unity government.
The planned amnesty for Maoist lawmaker Bal Krishna Dhungel
convicted for murder and life sentence in hail will encourage impunity and
mocks the rule of law.
