SUPREME COURT TO GIVE VERDICT FRIDAYON REPEATED EXTENSION OF CA MANDATE
Kathmandu, 24 Nov.: The Supreme Court is to give its verdict on the writ filed against the 10th amendment to the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2007 on Friday, RSS reports..

The date for the verdict was announced on Thursday after the arguments from the writ petitioner, Office of the Attorney General and the Amicus Curie were heard before the special bench of Chief Justice Khila Raj Regmi and judges Damodar Prasad Sharma, Ram Kumar Prasad Shaha, Kalyan Shrestha and Prem Sharma.

The writ was filed by advocate Bharat Mani Jangam arguing that extending the term of the CA through the 10th amendment of the constitution was against Article 64 of the constitution and therefore unconstitutional and illegal.

The Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Constituent Assembly, the Legislature-Parliament, the Speaker and the Ministry of Law and Justice have been named as the defendants in the petition.
