TERAI DISTRICTS CLOSED DOWN FOR THIRD DAY
Kathmandu, 25 Nov.: Seven organizations opposing a proposed
six-month extension of the constituent assembly/parliament closed
down terai districts from the far-West the West for the third
consecutive day Friday.
Tharus are leading the drive against the assembly extension after 30 November.
RPP-Nepal opposes the extension and has called fresh elections
to renew an assembly mandate.
NC hasn’t decided on an extension while another opposition party
UML has favoured extension without suggestion its duration.
Government has proposed a six-month extension.

RECORDING OF PREFERENCES OF FORMER
MAOIST FIGHTERS BEHIND SCHEDULE

Kathmandu, 25 Nov.: The ongoing recording of preferences of 19,000l
plus former Maoist PLA combatants at seven cantonments will be
completed 28 November, Balananda Sharma, chief of the secretariat
under a special committee for integration and resettlement said Friday.
The original schedule was to complete the process by 24 Nov.
He integration of former of former Maoists to complete the peace
process will miss a 30 November deadline.
Preferences of former fighters for integration, resettlement and voluntary retirement are being recorded.
Most have opted for integration with only few opting for resettlement.
