35 INJURED IN ILAM BUS ACCIDENT
Kathmandu, 28 Dec.: As many as 35 passengers were injured in a road accident at Sankhejung section along the Mechi Highway o Wednesday, RSS reports from Ilam.

Out of the 35 injured, six passengers have been injured critically.

The accident took place when a bus (Me 1 Kha 918) heading towards Taplejung from Birtamod of Jhapa district overturned on the road due to excessive speed, said police.

The critically injured Gaur Raj Rai and Ganesh Rai of Panchthar, Kumar Gurung and Sharad Man Thulung of Taplejung and Dambar Tamang of Dharampur of Jhapa have been referred to BP Koirala Institute of Health and Science, Dharan, for further treatment from Ilam Hospital.

Others injured are undergoing treatment at the Ilam Hospital.

PM ASSURES PEACE PROCESS WILL CONCLUDE BY 27 MAY DEADLINE
Kathmandu, 28 Dec.: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has claimed that the peace process will be taken to its logical conclusion and constitution will be promulgated within May 27, 201, RSS reports from Pokhara..

Speaking at a function organized by the Kaski Chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists, he claimed the peace and constitution writing processes disrupted for the last three years was forwarded by the government led by him.

He said the processes, which seemed to have been disrupted for few days, has taken pace again. The major political parties have been holding serious discussions so that the remaining task of peace process will be concluded within a day of two, the prime minister said.

Dr. Bhattarai said the government has placed good governance and economic prosperity in the high priority, adding the government will bring an action plan for good governance and economic prosperity within few days.

He said the government is for press freedom and committed to work for the prosperity of journalism and working journalists.

On the occasion, Dr. Bhattarai honoured senior journalist Madhav Sharma with the Pokhara Journalism Award.

PROTESTS AGAINST IMPROPER DISTRIBUTION IN RELIEF DISTRIBUTION

Kathmandu, 28 Dec.: Voices were raised from all quarters after irregularities on the special relief amount provided by the state to the conflict victim was found, RSS reports.

The irregularities were made on the relief amount distributed by the District Administration Office after the state decided to provide Rs. 200,000 to each family of those who had died in the conflict.

The government has provided relief to 481 persons for the first time. Of them, it is found that Rs. 775,000 was found deposited to seven persons´ account without serious study of the conflict affected people.

The local administration has said it will return the extra amount through the Rastriya Banijya Bank.

The relief amount was demanded to return as the conflict victims killed from the state side could not get relief in the past and it was distributed to those killed by ex-rebels, said Chief District Officer of Kalikot Durgadutta Dhakal.

The number of people who died during the insurgency was recorded at 596 in the district though it is found more than the record now. Even non-victims have also been found claiming for the relief rather than real conflict victims.

The administration has distributed the relief without giving information to local Peace Committee, claimed coordinator of the Committee, Daman Bahadur Bam.

The families of those killed from the ex-rebels have, however, released a press statement claiming for relief and warned of protests if they were not provided with the relief.
