MAOIST VICE-CHAIRMAN MOHAN BAIDYA ALSO WARNS OF A SPLIT IN UCPN (MAOIST)

Kathmandu, 11 Dec.: Senior Vice-Chairperson of the UCPN (Maoist) Mohan Baidya has warned of founding a Maoist party if compromises were made to remain in power by sidelining the people´s liberation and changes, RSS reports.

Speaking at a program organized in the capital on the occasion of the 88th memorial day of the first literary martyr Krishna Lal Adhikari on Sunday, Baidya, who leads the hardliners in the party, said lasting peace would not be established if the new constitution was not written in favor of the proletariat.

Baidya said, "During the people´s war the land was seized to ensure that tillers are the owners of land and calls were made to put an end to foreign intervention and unequal treaties but it instead it was unfortunate that farmers are being evacuated from the seized lands by taking help from the administration and ´black´ BIPPA has been signed with India."

Baidya feared that attempts were being made to continue the parliamentary system by just mentioning republicanism, geographical federalism and secularism in the name of making constitution.

He said, "In the past the leaders of Rana regime and Panchayati rule claimed to end the revolution but happened to end themselves. At present too, neo-feudal and foreign power are working to suppress the revolution. But they will also vanish."

He also claimed that the Maoists were the true followers of martyr Krishna Lal.

On the occasion, Maoist leader Ishwor Chandra Gyawali, Chairperson of Krishna Lal Foundation Yognath Upadhyay and others urged to declare Adhikari a martyr by recognition of his contribution to the country.

Adhikari, the author of ´Makaiko Kheti´, had died in jail while serving the jail sentence on the charge of writing the same book.
