CHHETRI SAMAJ ASKS PARTIES TO ABANDON CASTE-BASED POLITICS

Kathmandu, 5 Dec.: Central General Secretary of the Chhetri Samaj, Kumar Khadka has urged the leaders of the political parties not to do politics with caste- based slogans, RSS reports from Arghakhanchi.

He said the country will disintegrate if we go for federalism with the right to self-determination by dividing the country on caste-based federalism.

Khadka, while addressing the first gathering of the Chhetri Samaj Nepal, Arghakhanchi, at Sandhikharka, said the state restructuring should be on the basis of geography. He also said equal rights should be there for all communities, and government facilities should not be distributed in quotas on the basis of communalism.

At the programme, Vice Chairman of the Mid- Western Region Man Bahadur KC, Central Member and Lumbini Zonal In-Charge Laxman Thapa, and Intellectual Society Western Regional Co-Chairman Yam Bahadur GC said, forces within and outside the country are out to divide the Chhetris that are in majority in the country, and that there is no alternative to the unity of Chhetris to save the country.

The programme was presided over by Samaj’s District Chairman, Lekh Bahadur Tandan.

GOVT. DEPT. TAKES ACTION AGAINST 201 COMPANIES FOR DEALING IN SUB-STANDARD GOODS

Kathmandu, 5 Dec.:Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has taken action on 201 various companies for selling substandard goods, RSS reports.

It took action against them in 419 places from September 1- December 1 in 141 cases of monitoring.

Some 241 products in 79 places were destroyed in the monitoring of the items, and products of 25 companies were sealed.

Department’s Spokesman Pramod Koirala said direction was given to 37 companies for maintaining quality, and 20 companies to renew the licenses.
