COLD WAVE KILLS 32; OTHER DETAILS

Kathmandu, 23 Dec.: The current cold wave has killed 32 persons so far , the home ministry said officially confirming the huge death toll in current cold spell described as the worst in more that two decades by some
terai residents.
Unofficial death toll has been put at more that three dozen.
The cold wave continues and is expected to last for several more days.
The supreme court Thursday issued a show cause to government asking it to respond to a writ filed at the apex court charging government
for negligence and demanding intervention for relief.
Angry locals bared chests in Bara Thursday charging government negligence led to the current spate of deaths.

VIBOR DEVELOPMENT BANK CLEARS NRB DUES

Kathmandu, 23 Dec.: Troubled Vibor Development Bank paid
Rs. 250 million to Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) Thursday to clear a loan by selling its land holding and loans to other banks.
The development has cleared all dues, NRB official said.
The central bank earlier this year lent the amount to the
cash-strapped development to pull it out of a financial crisis.
Vibor Bikash Bank is holding talks with several banks for acquisition.

LARGE HASH HAUL IN BARA

Kathmandu, 23 Dec.: Seventy quintals hash was seized by police from Kilgaon Ratapuri VDC-3 in Bora on the Indo-Nepal border Thursday.
An Indian national was arrested.
A tractor and motorcycle were impounded.
