DPM GACHEDHAR RETURNS FRIDAY FROM CHINA

Kathmandu, 30 Dec.: Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar, who is also home minister and acting defence minister as well, returns from a five-day China visit without consultations with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
But he held security talks related to a postponed visit of Wen with his counterpart in Beijing.
New date for the rare visit scheduled for 20 December hasn’t been fixed as yet.

Government declared Friday a public holiday to celebrate the spring festival.

TWO MORE HELD FOR SUSPECTED MURDER AT JEWELRY SHOP

Kathmandu, 30 Dec.: Two more persons, including an Indian, have been held for suspected murder 5 December at a jewelry shop in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
Ranjeet Sah of India and Jitendra Shrestha of Bhaktapur were arrested by Crime Investigation Bureau (CBI) for the suspected murder of Juju Kazi Bajracharya.

TWO ABSCONDING BANKERS HELD

Kathmandu, 30 Dec.:Shiva Ram Joshi and Shambhu Bahadur KB, absconding executives of a finance company, were arrested from the capital Thursday.
They are the former general manager and chairman of Capital Merchant and Finance Company Ltd. and Nepal Progressive Finance.
They were arrested by Central Investigation Bureau at the request of Nepal Rashtra Bank for misappropriation of an estimated Rs 600 million.

TWO ARRESTED WITH 18.5 KG HASH

Kathmandu, 30 Dec.: Altogether 18.5kg hash was recovered after a raid on a house in Naikap in the capital Thursday.
Som Bahadur Tamang and Raj Kumar Ghale were arrested.

CASINO SHANGRI-LA-CLOSED DOWN INDEFINITELY

Kathmandu, 30 Dec.: Casino Shangri-la, with a Rs 300 million Malaysian investment, closed down indefinitely Thursday following labour problems.
Labour problems surfaced afer demands of workers affiliated with Maoists and UML/
Management has notified labour ministry, labour department and workers.

NRB GOVERNOR UNDERGOES ANGIOPLASTY

Kathamandu, 30 Dec.: Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) Governor Yubaraj Khatiwada underwent an angioplasty procedure at Norvic Hospital Thursday.
He was admitted there after complaining of chest pain.
