NEPAL, INDIA IGC MEET BEGINS MONDAY
Kathmandu, 4 Dec.: A two-day Nepal, India secretary-level inter-governmental committee (IGC) meet begins in New Delhi Monday.
Commerce Secretary Purusottam Ojha his Indian counterpartt Rahul Khullar will lead their respective teams.
The meeting is normally held every six months; the last meeting was held in was held in Kathmandu.

NI, FICCI sign MoU
The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Saturday to foster Nepal-India relation on economic growth. CNI President Binod Kumar Chaudhary and FICCI Secretary General Rajiv Kumar signed the understanding.
Addressing the MoU signing programme, CNI President Chaudhary termed the agreement a beginning of a very important partnership between the two business bodies. “It will mark the beginning of an important partnership between CNI and FICCI,” said Chaudhary.
The MoU talks setting up of a permanent joint working group to take up bilateral issues on trade, investment, transit, make appropriate recommendations to respective governments and follow up for speedy resolution of the issues. The CNI and FICCI have agreed to form an ‘Indo-Nepal Strategic Forum’, which will have representation of senior business leaders, economists, media and civil society. With the signing of the MoU, FICCI will open its Nepal office at CNI secretariat in Kathmandu on January 1, 2012, and a similar office will be established by CNI at FICCI’s office in New Delhi.

LEGENDARY INDIAN ACTOR DEV ANAND DEAD
Kathmandu, 4 Dec.: Legendary Bollywood actor-director Dev Anand has died in London of a heart attack, aged 88, family members say, BBC reports.
Anand, who produced and acted in dozens of films, was unwell and had gone to London for a check up.
He was known as the Adonis of Indian cinema for his good looks and the ease with which he played romantic roles.
He films included Guide, Paying Guest and Jewel Thief. He continued to direct almost until the end, releasing his last film, Chargesheet, in September.
In his 65-year career, which began in 1946, Anand became one of India's iconic actor-directors.
"An era has come to an end. Dev Anand leaves a void never perhaps to be filled again. He never gave up belief, his joy of life," tweeted Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
Mr Bachchan wrote that he had met Anand at a film premier recently. "He was weak but full of spirit," he tweeted.
