PARLIAMENT PASSES SAARC AGREEMENT ON TRADE IN SERVICES
Kathmandu, 16 Dec.: The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament on Friday passed the SAARC Agreement on Trade in Services (SATS), RSS reports.
Similarly, the Parliament passed the various amendments to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, 1987, namely the Copenhagen Amendment 1992, the Montreal Amendment 1997 and the Beijing Amendment 1999.
Minister for Environment, Hemraj Tated presented the proposal to this effect in the Parliament meeting today.
Likewise, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun tabled the procedures related to the responsibilities of officials /employees involved in budget formulation prepared as per the directives of the Parliamentary Investigation Special Committee constituted by the Legislature-Parliament.
Chairperson of the Legislation Committee, Yasoda Gurung (Subedi) tabled the Report on the National Human Rights Commission, 2011 prepared by the Legislation Committee.
At the meeting, Speaker Subas Nembang read out the names of the MPs nominated to the different committees of the Legislature-Parliament from the name list as prepared after making changes on the members of the committees.

COLD WAVE KILLS STUDENT IN SIRAHA
Kathmandu, 16 Dec.: A student died of cold in Siraha district on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Pramod Kumar Chaudhary (21) of Khasaraha of Govindapur-5 in the district, RSS reports.
The deceased was a student of Sub-overseer at Chhinnamasta Educational Academy, Rajbiraj.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Saptari, Yuva Narayan Baidhya, Chaudhary died on the way to the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital for further treatment after he was serious due to extensive cold while he was sleeping in his rented room at Rajbiraj Municipality-5.
Roommate of the deceased, Ram Narayan Chaudhary, of Phoolkahikatti VDC-5 of Siraha district, said Pramod died on the way to hospital for treatment after he suddenly started shaking with cold.
The body has been kept at the Hospital for post mortem.
Cold has created havoc for the past few days in the district affecting normal life. The number of patients suffering from pneumonia, fever and cough is on the rise of late.
(NOTE: The current cold wave has killed three in Dhanusha and two in Rautahat.)
