PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE ORDERS AMENDMENT IN POLICE ACT TO MAKE SECURITY MORE EFFECTIVE
Kathmandu, 11 Dec.:The Legislature-Parliament State Affairs Committee has directed the Government to present a Bill for formulation of a new Police Act within a month., RSS reports
The meeting of the Committee on Sunday issued such a directive after repeated calls by the Committee to amend the existing Act and regulations related to the security bodies or to formulate a new Act was ignored.
Likewise, the meeting also directed the government to review the existing security strategy and action plan based on the recent verdict of the Supreme Court on the privileges enjoyed by various past and present office-bearers and to come up with an appropriate decision in this regard.
At the meeting today, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchadar said he was working to keep the home administration completely free of political intervention, and expressed the commitment to table a proposal on necessary amendment to the Police Act within a month before the parliament.

TEAM INVESTIGATING MURDEROUS ASSSULT INSIDE CHITWAN DISTRICT RETURNS TO CAPITAL AFTER SPOT INVESTIGATION
Kathmandu, 11 Dec.; An investigation team headed by home ministry secretary Shanker Koirala investigating a murderous assault inside Chitwan district prison last week returned to the capital Sunday.
It will present a report to the government
Five persons were injured, including NC Chitwan district Tarun Dal Shiva Prasad Paudel last week.
Paudel was under judicial custody as investigations was ongoing into his probable involvement in a murder of a UML district youth leader.
