PARTIES DIFFER ON TERMINOLOGY PEOPLE’S WAR
AND ARMED CONFLICT
Kathmandu, 20 Dec.: Parties at a Prachanda sub-committee on
resolution of differences on themes to be incorporated in a
delayed constitution by a new 28 May deadline couldn’t agree Tuesday whether the Maoist 10-year insurgency that claimed 17,000 plus lives on both sides of the civil war was an armed conflict or a people’s
war.
Maoists claim and call it a ‘people’ war’.
The party leading the government insisted it be defined as a
people’s war in a basic law opposed by other parties.
The Prachanda sub-committee meets again Thursday
following the disagreement.

FORMER DIRECTOR OF SANIMA DEVELOPMENT BANK ARRESTED
Kathmandu, 20 Dec.: Pankaj Adhikari, was arrested in
Malanghwa, SiIraha, Tuesday.
He’s a former director of Sanima Development Bank which has
received Nepal Rashtra Bank permission to be upgraded to a commercial bank.
