SPECIAL COMMITTEE MEETS SUNDAY
Kathmandu, 31 Dec.: A special committee for integration, rehabilitation and supervision of Maoists meets Sunday after a long delay, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai
told Radio Nepal Friday.
The premier heads the committee.
Not much headway has been recorded to send home those former fighters in cantonments and satellite camps after the committee’s secretariat recorded preferences of former fighters first estimated at 19,000 plus.
But their numbers were far less.
Opposition parties are demanding the caps be cleared of Maoist fighters while rejecting request for enrolment of more than 6,500 combatants in Nepal Army following desire of additional fighters to join the state army.
