EASTERN REGION STRIKE CALLED OFF UPDATE

Kathmandu, 14 Dec.: A strike of the nine districts called Federal Limbuwan State Council was withdrawn Wednesday.
The crippling strike was called after a formal government request to the Council for talks to address demand for inclusion in a state reorganization commission.
The council formed a seven-member talks team for negotiations with government this week.
People rushed to markets to buy essentials immediately after the strike was withdrawn.

CC DISCUSSIONS UPDATE
Kathmandu, 14 Dec.: 14: The Constitutional Committee of the Constituent Assembly has discussed as per the directives given by the CA to correct the repeated issues in the fundamental rights and directive principles of the state, RSS reports.

Decision was made to send the repeated issues to the Dispute Resolution Sub-committee to give final touch by correcting language, said UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

He also said the agreement on Tuesday on electoral system was important, and informed the 18 year voting right age was approved.

Committee Member Madhav Kumar Nepal said the meeting centered on correcting the repetitions, and that there were signs of hope.

Committee President Nilambar Acharya said the points resolved in the resolution committee will be approved from December 16 onwards.

Committee Member Laxmanlal Karn said today’s meeting removed property, food security, social security and education from the directive principles.
