10 AMBASSADORS APPOINTED

Kathmandu, 17 Jan.: The cabinet Tuesday appointed ambassadors in 10 countries.
Shankar Bairagi was appointed ambassador to Switzerland, Muktinath Bhatta to Denmark, Rudra Nepal to Australia, and Rammani Pokharel to Belgium.
Bharatraj Poudel was appointed ambassador to Pakistan, Parasmani Ghimire to Myanmar, Pralad Prasai to Israel, Rabi Mohan Sapkota to Russia , Kaman Singh Lama to South Korea and Dr Maya Kumari Sharma to Qatar.
Government set aside two billion rupees for the Maoist combatants opting for voluntary retirement.
The money allocated is the first installment and includes transportation costs return home from the cantonments.
Several EU member states that had been funding the peace process were
reluctant to finance the final integration of former 19,000 fighters in
28 cantonments amid a European financial crisis.
China offered $20 million one-time grant for the programme during the just concluded visit to Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
