Kathmandu, 3 Jan.: Altogether 737,597 tourists visited Nepal in 2011 designated Visit Nepal Year 2011—less than the one million
target set by government.
Arrivals from neighboring India and China helped boost the arrival figure, the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) said.
Arrivals by land and air jumped 22.34 percent compared to the previous year.
Altogether 75,517 Chinese visited Nepal overland) in 2011—45, 400 by air and remaining came overland.
Altogether 145,338 Indians visited Nepal in 2011.
Government has declared 2012 Visit Lumbini Year.
Lumbini is the birthplace of The Buddha.
