MAOIST OFFICE BEARERS MEET, CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEET POSTPONED UNTIL WEDNESDAY
Kathmandu, 10-Jan.: A planned repeatedly scheduled meeting of Maoist central committee Tuesday has been postponed until Tuesday, sources in the party leading the government said.
Chairman Prachanda was to present a political proposal for
adoption incorporating views of First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya for
a popular people’s revolt.
The Maoist boss and Baidya patched up differences Monday to unite the party.
Prachanda agreed to incorporate Baidya’s concepts for a radical
communist in an amended political paper as the boss the
UCPN (Maoist) previously joined hands with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for party unity and conclusion of the delayed peace process and constitution drafting.
Prachanda is preparing an amended political proposal to be
presented later Tuesday at a meeting of office bearers for
adoption before the central committee met Wednesday.
Baidya and other members of the dissident group will attend the meet of office bearers.
Baidya and the Prachanda have come together as the dissident
group has pushed for the appointment of General Secretary
Ram Bahadur Thapa to replace Prime Minister Bhattarai who
is second vice-chairman of the party.
Opposition Monday also decided to bring a no-confidence
motion against the Bhattarai government ending the incumbent
premier’s brief
honeymoon with the opposition.
