NC, UML CONSULT 16 OTHER PARTIES IN PARLIAMENT

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: Main opposition NC and the second biggest opposition party held consultative meetings with 16 other parties in parliament Sunday to develop a common approach against UCPN (Maoist) leading a
government with Madeshbadi parties.
Consulations will contine Monday.
Sunday’s meeting was held after BC and UML concluded
Saturday the party leading the government is deliberately
delaying conclusion the of the delyed peacec process and
constitution drafting,
The parties concluded Sunday the present challenge is to
conclude the peace process and implement past agreements and decisions between major parties , including a 7-ponit agreement.
The two biggest parties decided to hold consultations with
Madeshbadi parties in government with Maoists as a 7-point agreement was also concluded with them as well.
NC, UML and smaller parties in parliament agreed to pressurize Maoists to implement past agreements, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said and added serious challenges have surfaced lately.

IMPROVED STOVES TO LOWR GAS EMISSIONS

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: Nepal has been making preparations for taking Improved Cooking Stoves Programme meant for emitting less green house gas, to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), RSS reports .

If the programme is taken to the CDM, Nepal's green house gas will be measured and Nepal will fall in the category of low emission countries.

Manager of the Alternate Energy Promotion Centre, Climate and Carbon Unit, Raju Lodari informed that some 35 thousand earthen stoves will be made in Terai this year and 3,000 iron stoves in the high Himalayan region.

One improved stove emits 1.8 ton less carbon dioxide annually as compared to the general stoves.

Likewise, Sustainable Development Centre's Executive Director Rajan Thapa said the programme is being registered in CDM through three projects in the six districts of the country.

He said 75,000 improved stoves will be built in six years in Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Bardiya, Banke, Morang and Saptari district.
