PM BHATTARAI , SUSHIL KOIRALA MEET INCONCLUSIVE

Kathmandu, 23 Jan.: A meeting Monday between Prime Minister Baburam
Bhattarai and NC President Sushil Koirala to beak a deadlock over government’s failed attempt to implement a government decision to legalize seized assets during a 10-year Maoist insurgency failed.
Koirala rejected a Bhattarai at the former’s residence early Monday to
cooperate to run obstructed house proceedings smoothly.
The chief of the main opposition told Bhattarai to state publicly and officially a decision has been rescinded, a Koirala aide said.
Bhattarai launched consultations with opposition leaders Sunday to remove hurdles for peace ad constitution drafting.
Supreme court has issued an interim order not to implement a decision and
Maoist coalition partners of the terai also decided the decision can’t be
implemented.

UML FIXES DATES FOR POLITBURO MEET

Kathmandu, 23 Jan.: A meeting of CPN-UML´s standing committee
Monday decided to hold a party politburo meet 8/9 February.
The meeting was held ahead of a national representative council meeting.
in February.
The standing meeting was convened to discuss correct issued, Chairman Jhalanatah Khanal’s amended political paper to be presented at the council meeting,
party reinforcement and other issues.
The party opposed a government decision to legalize seized assets by
Maoists during the insurgency.

TWO ELECTRCUTED IN PARBAT, 10 BURNT
Kathmandu, 23 Jan.: Two persons were charred to death and 10 others
were burnt at Deurali VDC-4 of Parbat district on Monday morning.
Two were electrocuted due to high voltage, police informed.

DACOIT KILLED IN MOHOTTARI
Kathmandu, 23 Jan.: A dacoit was killed and two others were injured in villagers' retaliation last night in Mahadaiya Tapanpur VDC of Mahottari district, RSS reports from Bardibas.
A man of around 25 years old was killed in the retaliation when the dacoits broke into the houses of locals Ramdhyan Yadav and Dinesh Yadav. Identity of the murdered has not been ascertained yet.
Ram Ekwal Paswan, 45, and Jaya Prakash Paswan, 40, of Devdiya VDC of Dhanusha were seriously injured in the incident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Mahottari, Kedar Khanal said the two are receiving treatment in Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
The gang of dacoits looted properties worth Rs 500,000 and left the local Dharohi Devi Yadav injured by attacking with spears.

PM KHANAL ASSIST FOR JOURNALISTS
Kathmandu, 23 Jan.: CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal has announced to provide Rs 50,000 for the building construction of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Ilam Chapter, RSS reports from Ilam.
Khanal pledged to provide the amount for FNJ building after returning to the district headquarters by donating land for Ratna Kumar Bantawa Polytechnic Institute in Sankhejung of Ilam.
The FNJ building construction that was started three years ago is yet to be completed. The journalists of Ilam have been seeking support from different personalities and organisations for the completion of the building.
So far, the district development committee, Ilam, has pledged to provide Rs. 600,000, said FNJ, Ilam Chapter chairman, Umesh Kumar Gurung.
Earlier, Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang had also provided Rs 70,000 for the same purpose.
Khanal and Nembang are the lawmakers from Ilam district.
