PM. ELECTION OFFICIALS DISCUSS LOCAL ELECTIONS
Kathmandu, 10 Jan.:: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has held consultations with the Election Commission (EC) about the elections to the local bodies which have not been held for a long time due to various reasons, RSS reports.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner, Nilkantha Upreti gave out information about this at a press meet here on Tuesday.

"The prime minister and the Commission have already discussed about the local bodies' elections and preparations are underway accordingly," said Mr. Upreti.

He said that the EC was always ready for holding elections and it could conduct elections within 120 days after the completion of the voters name list and formulation of laws to that end. However, in context of Nepal, elections could be held only twice in a year due to its geographical and natural condition, he added.

Kathmandu, 10 Jan.: Bikram Baniya, 28, was arrested with banned Rs.1,000 and Rs.500 Indian currency notes Monday at TIA.
The Nepali was arrested while boarding a flight for New Delhi.
