CHINA GETS 75 PERCENT STAKE IN WEST SETI POWER COMPANY


Kathmandu, 29 Feb.: Government has awarded the
the 750 MW West Seti Hydro Electricity Project to China’s
Three Gorges Corporation (TGC) Wednesday wih a 75percent.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) will have a 25 percent
stake in the project.
Following two-day talks, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was
for the launch of the project handed over 16years ago to
Australia’s Snowy Mountain Company
Government cancelled the award after the project didn’t
materialize and awarded it to China following this year’s
Nepal visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
The USD 1.6 billion. project will be completed by 2019.

Joint Secretary at the Energy Ministry Arjun Kumar Karki and
TGC CEO Cao Guangjing signed the MoU.

TWO UNIDENTIFIED BODIES FOUND IN SAPTARI
Kathmandu, 29 Feb.: Two unidentified bodies have been found in Saptari district on Wednesday, RSS reports from Rajbiraj
According to police, a body of an infant was recovered near the office of Nepal Electricity Authority at Rajbiraj-9.

Similarly, a person of around 40 years of age was found dead at a farm in Tikuliya-3.

The body had rope tied on the neck and there were bruises on different parts of the body, according to the District Police Office.

Police suspected that somebody had thrown the body after murder. Identification of the bodies has to be ascertained yet. Both the bodies have been kept at Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj.

Investigation into both the incidents is underway, said Police-Inspector Nanda Lal Saha.
