MAOIST CAMPS TO BE REDUCED FROM 28 TO 14
Kathmandu, 12 Feb.: The number of cantonments and satellite camps will be cut
to 14 from 28 after the voluntary retirement of 7,2000 former Maoist fighters, NC member of a special committee Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat said Sunday.
The NC member of the committee chaired ex-officio by the prime minister said this fter the committee met Sunday.
A five-member task force headed by committee secretariat member
Ramananda Mishra. has been asked to submit a closure report
Shambhu Raj Simkhada, Goptal Singh Bohara, Tej Bahadur Oli and secretary at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Jaya Dev Shrestha, are the other members of the task force.
The committee has directed its committee secretariat to investigate reported widespread confiscation of cheques delivered former Maoist combatants opting voluntary
Retirement by Maoist commanders at the camps.
