SUPREME COURT MEETS WEDNESDAY TO DISCUSS PMS, SPEAKER REQUESTS

SUPREME COURT LWILL TAKE UP WEDNESDAY REQUESTS OF
PM AND SPEAKER TO REVIEW REGISTRAR DECISION NOT TO REGISTER GOVERNMENT, LEGISLATIVE REQUESTS

Kathmandu, 26 Feb.: The supreme court will take up separate requests Wednesday
of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Speaker Subash Nemwang to review a decision of the apex court’s registrar not to entertain a requests of the government chief and the speaker to review a December 2011 decision of the top court which ruled a tensure of the constituent assembly (CA) can’t be extended again after 28 May.
The supreme court said if a constitution isn’t promulgated by the end of May the CA should be dissolved suggesting fresh elections of a body to draft a basic law.
The CA tenure has been repeatedly extended after failure to promulgate a
basis law in a two-year elected tenure.
