2ND ROUND OF CAMP EVACUATION OF FORMER MAOIST FIGHTERS BEGIN
Kathmandu, 8 March: The work to reduce 21 PLA cantonments to 13 under the seven different divisions of the PLA combatants has begun today [Thursday]..

According to coordinator of the secretariat under the Army Integration Special Committee Balananda Sharma, two satellite camps under the Third Division will be merged into a main camp at Shaktikhor on Thursday.

Sharma told RSS that 310 combatants from the Pratap Memorial Brigade and 450 combatants from Basu Memorial Brigade will be shifted to Shaktikhor.

Similarly, satellite cantonment at Sahajpur under the Seventh Division in Kailali district is being shifted to main camp at Talbandh.

Likewise, satellite camps at Danabari of Ilam and Yangshila of Morang will be vacated today under the First Division.

Similarly, satellite camps at Guthi and Khaltepani in Surkhet are being vacated today.

Sharma said satellite camps located at Bijauri of Dang and Tila of Rolpa under the Fifth Division will also be shifted.

Coordinator Sharma said two camps under the Third and Fourth Divisions will begin today.

Sharma said the tasks to evacuate the camps will be completed within 10 days.

Nepal Army and Armed Police Force will be handed over the responsibility to protect the evacuated satellite camps.

The work to evacuate the camps was started as per the decision of the Army Integration Special Committee. After the fresh move of the Special Committee, the PLA combatants will stay in seven main and eight satellite cantonments.

Sharma said preparation will be made for integration after the completion of camp evacuation task.
