DETAILS OF MAOIST MINI-REBELLION

MAOIST REBELLION COMING OUT IN OPEN LATER STAURDAY

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 17 March: A ‘mini rebellion’ in the ruling UCPN (Maoist)
is coming out in the open later Saturday with a faction led by hard-ling
First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya announcing details of protest against
the establishment side of Chairman Prachanda and Prime Minister
Baburam Bhattarai
The establishment has formally told the rebellious party leading a
government with a coalition of five Madeshbadi parties its programmes
to complete peace and a constitution were programmes adopted by the party.
Nee challenge broke out against the establishment as it I caught in a dilemma to complete a task of drafting a constitution and completing
delayed processes by two years whole attempting to push its own communist agenda also rejected by the opposition.
Prachanda and Bhattarai face challenge opposition from two
fronts,
Baidya has called the establishment ‘revisionist’ abandoning
the communist agenda and a lackey of India while Bhattarai
pushes a foreign policy agenda from government.
The government and the Maoist establishment are now facing a challenge from a third front—former PLA guerillas used to capture state power.
Maoists couldn’t topple Royal Nepal Army (RNA) and later the Shah dynasty that founded and united modern Nepal more than
236 years ago.
A coalition of international forces consisting fist of India and domr European states- Scandinavians , Great Britain, Germany,
Switzerland and later UNA, finally toppled the royal regime of King Gyanendra.
A section of the same PLA forces have also come out against the party and government as they destroyed physical facilities where they
were housed in 28 camps and cantonments for more than
four years.
The destruction has been vehemently criticized by locals around the facilities leaving a bad impression of the UCPN Maoist
amongst people.
The former fighters have charged the party leadership is handling dole for the party by five European states for the fighters through
government.
The fighters are demanding transparency in fund management
and payment after some were sent to infiltrate society through
YCL and even to capture votes during elections captured by
Maoists
The rebellion in the party by the former PLA will delay the
peace and constitution processes as well.
