FORMER ARMY CHIEF KATAWAL SAY HE’LL DEVOTE LIFE TO RELIGION

Kathmandu, 2 March: Former Army Chief Gen. Rukmangun Katawal, who
Gained national and international attention with his confrontation with Maoists in general and Chairman Prachanda, then prime minister, said Thursday he’ll devote the rest of his life for promotion of religion
“All religions should be one,’ he said while launching a mahayaghya
in Myagdhi Thursday.
Prachanda resigned after nine months in office as government chief following an abortive attempt to dismiss Katawal who prevailed over
UCPN (Maoist) when ceremonial President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav interceded on behalf of the Katawal in a showdown between the Maoist government and Katawal then supported by Maoists.
The retiring army chief made a scathing against Maoists in his farewell
address to colleagues and made political statements after retiring and was expected to join politics like a predecessor Sachit Shumshere Rana.

DHANUSHA OUTFIT LEADER ARRESTED

Kathmandu, 2 March: Dhanusha I-charge Pishpa Raj Raya of Madesh Mukti Tiger Tantrik (MMTI) has been arrested police said.
He was involved in the bombing of Janaki Medical College, police added.

NEPALI WIFE OF ASSAM REBEL LEADER SENT TO JAIL IN ONEY LAUNDERING CHARGE

Kathmandu, 2 Feb. Nepali wife Sarita Giri of leader of Assam rebel
group of India Niranjan HojaI was sentenced by a three-member special court Thursday for money laundering.
She didn’t settle a Rs 45 million set by the court.
Giri couldn’t for $ 200,000 she received from her husband based in Singapore through a bank last December.
Ram Chandra Giri, Sati Giri, Raju Giri and Sita Giri, to whom Hojai allegedly transferred his property was released on general date.
